NINDS Institutional Center Core Grants to Support Neuroscience Research (P30) PAR-08-116

Date Posted: March 24, 2008
Deadline for internal competition: April 8, 2008
Agency deadline for LOI (NOT required): April 25, 2008
Agency deadline for Full Proposal: May 25, 2008
Sponsor: National Institutes of Health
Limit on number of proposals: NINDS will not consider more than one application simultaneously from an applicant organization. Please note that standard submission dates apply to this program announcement (http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/funding/submissionschedule.htm). As an organization, we may submit a single proposal at each cycle date. This limited submission opportunity will be announced for each submission cycle, and will appear on the recurring limited submissions website (http://www.kucr.ku.edu/depts/funding/lso/recurring.shtml).

NINDS Center Core Grants will support centralized resources and facilities shared by investigators with existing NINDS-funded research projects. Each Center will be composed of one or more research cores, each of which will enrich the effectiveness of ongoing research, and promote new research directions. Center Core Grants will foster a cooperative and interactive research environment through which multidisciplinary approaches to neuroscience problems and joint research efforts will be stimulated. To receive an award under this program, an institution must have at least five qualifying NINDS-funded research projects at the time of application submission (P. 7, Other Special Eligibility Criteria). Applicants may request up to $500K per year in direct costs for a period not to exceed 5 years.

Because there is not ample time for interested investigators to create and submit the standard pre-proposal before the next submission cycle, please send a "Letter of Intent" (LOI) to Barbara Earl (864-7781, bearl@ku.edu) by April 8, 2008. If more than one LOI is received, a review committee will be formed to review all applications and investigators may be asked to provide additional details. The committee's intent is to select a proposer by April 14, 2008, thereby giving the proposer two weeks to prepare for the optional LOI submission, and an additional month for the proposal submission.
