The objective of the P30 Core Centers is to bring together clinical and basic science investigators in a manner that will enhance and extend the effectiveness of research related to digestive and liver diseases and their complications. An existing program of excellence in biomedical research in the area of digestive or liver diseases is required. At least 50% of the already funded research base in a new application must be supported by the NIDDK. The applicant may request a project period of up to 5 years and a budget for direct costs up to $750K per year.

Based on a search of the awards database, it was determined that KU-Lawrence does not have the necessary research base to be a lead institution for either initiative. Therefore, there will not be an internal competition for this limited submission opportunity. However, a Principal Investigator from KU-L could participate as a collaborator or subcontractor with KUMC or another institution, and we would encourage any interested parties to do so.
